Hougang Central sits at the civic heart of Hougang in District 19. The development site is above Hougang MRT station and is required to integrate with the rebuilt bus interchange, which makes it one of a small number of Singapore addresses where rail, bus, retail and homes are stacked on a single parcel.
Rail
Hougang MRT (NE14) is on the North East Line, running to Serangoon, Little India, Dhoby Ghaut, Clarke Quay, Chinatown and HarbourFront. The station is planned as a Cross Island Line interchange, adding an east-west axis across the island.
Bus and road
Hougang Bus Interchange feeds the northeast estates and is to be rebuilt within the development. For drivers, the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway gives access south toward the city and north toward Tampines and the Tampines Expressway, while the Central Expressway is reachable via Upper Serangoon Road and Yio Chu Kang Road.
Retail and food
Hougang Mall, Hougang 1 and Heartland Mall Kovan sit in the immediate area, alongside Hougang hawker centres and the food along Upper Serangoon Road. The planned retail component at Hougang Central — around 300,000 sq ft of net lettable area — is set to become the largest mall in Hougang.
Green space and recreation
Punggol Park, the Serangoon park connector network and Hougang Sports Centre with its stadium and swimming complex are all within the surrounding estate.
Healthcare
Hougang Polyclinic serves the estate, with Sengkang General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital the nearest larger institutions.
